Known Issues
Online Help is not yet fully implemented (under construction).
Folders may currently not be selected via the Choose... buttons or a menu, they have to be dragged onto FMDiff's window. They can however be selected via the command line (something rather for experts).
The path name (folders and files) may not contain non-ascii characters, otherwise an error "The XML-document is not well-formed" will be reported.
If a file is removed from its current location after the path has been set in FMDiff, the application quits (instead of reporting an error) when a compare is started.
ValueList entries are not separated into lines but appear space separated.
On the Windows platform:
Changing of the output File Options by clicking on HTML or XML radio buttons has no effect. Please use the arrow keys.
Internet Explorer does not format the report very nicely (inconsistent and too big font sizes used). We recommend Firefox or another browser of your choice.
Limitations
Range of reports
The internal FileMaker 7, 8, 8.5, and 9 structure consists of the following main sections of which FMDiff reports differences between files. All sections are compared, but not all details are being reported. This ranges from "Section modified" (p. e. Layouts) to precise details (p. e. Fields). Please check out the example report or download the free version and try for yourself.
The version numbers below indicate the implementation of the section's attributes. The listed version may not already be available for download - but can be expected soon. Please see Download for available versions.
